Supported Agriculture
Trevalon was purchased by Orchard Land Trust (a not-for profit company) in 2005 and is held in trust for the benefit of the community. Currently Mark Simon manages the land and grows fruit on vegetables on just 3 acres, supplying 80 vegetable boxes a week to homes in SE Cornwall. Trevalon now wants to open its doors to the community, and give local people the chance to help manage the land, take part in growing their own food and become involved in making Trevalon more beautiful, productive and sustainable. On November 24th 2009, a public meeting attracted 50 people, of whom 35 people signed up to get involved and 8 people agreed to be part of a core group. More events and workshops are planned for 2010. For more information:
Trevalon Community Supported Agriculture Scheme is grateful for the support of the following organisations: Unltd, Making Local Food Works, The Soil Association and The Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens.
